Richard Allen King, owner of King's Barber Shop in Newbury Park and Thousand Oaks, died peacefully and with conscious intention at the age of 87 on August 21st, during the solar eclipse, surrounded by his family.
Richard was born March 29, 1930 in Atchison Kansas and at the age of 8 moved to Los Angeles. He attended Catholic grade school and junior high and graduated from LA High School.
King served with the Marine infantry in Korea. On May 27th 1951 he was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat V for Heroic Achievement.

Richard King was our family treasure and a True American Hero. He will be missed.
Richard is survived by his longtime companion, Joann Erwin, Daughter Sandra Linderman (Jeff), Grandchildren Jeffrey, Sara Beth, and Emily. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Virginia King.
Services will be held at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Mortuary on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 10am. Graveside services will follow. All are welcome to attend.
